Airport transfers by car

Honolulu Airport is located close to the City Center of Waikiki and a car ride only takes about 15 minutes, depending on traffic. The main roads leading to the airport are Nimitz Highway and the Queen Liliuokalani Freeway of Interstate H-1.

Airport transfers by taxi

Taxis are available on the center median in front of the baggage claim areas from the terminals. A taxi journey from Honolulu Airport to the City Center of Waikiki takes approximately 15 minutes.

A taxi trip to Waikiki from Honolulu Airport usually costs around $40.00 to $45.00 with a maximum of 4 people. There is a small baggage fee of 40-45 cents per bag. All taxis use a meter. During periods of heavy traffic, there might be charged higher fees.

Airport transfers with your car rental

All visitors that arrive at Honolulu Airport can without much hassle find their rental car service provider. A wide range of the major rental car companies provide car hire at Honolulu Airport, including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National, and Thrifty. Travelers will also find a few local car hire companies including Advantage and Economy car hire at the airport.

The registration counters are located in the Baggage Claim area. The on-site airport rental car offices are located on the ground level of the Terminal 2 Parking Garage.

Car rental shuttle buses stop in designated areas along the center median on the ground level outside of baggage claim areas. These need to be used for off-site airport car companies.

We strongly advised all passengers to make their car hire reservations as soon as possible before arriving at Honolulu Airport. This is due to the fact that there is only a limited number of vehicles available for walk-up consumers.

Many of the rental car companies at Honolulu Airport offer both short and long-term car rentals in Hawaii. This will give you the opportunity to discover everything this amazing island has to offer.
